Aim/Perspectives

The unit for Radiochemistry and Biomarker Development at the Medical University of Vienna was established for the development and preclinical evaluation of novel PET tracers, specifically targeting receptors, transporters and enzymes.

The group comprises young scientists originating from different scientific background, all devoted to our final goal: combining scientific curiosity and excellence! Our understanding of this group’s principles is BASIC SCIENCE free of commercial orientation. Hence, we finance our members primarily through scientific grants (-> projects/overview); although very much welcome, commercial sponsors play a subordinate role in the nucleus of our unit but contribute significantly at our partners. This support is mainly used for investments in infrastructural improvements such as lab equipment or chemicals.

To transport our visions to a wider public, all members are motivated to participate in national and international congress meetings and symposia. Of course, we are glad to be seriously involved in academic teaching at the Medical University of Vienna, the University of Vienna (Faculties of Life Sciences, Chemistry, Nutritional Sciences, …), the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt and the Academy for Radiotechnologists Vienna. Thus, our unit is a hatchery for bachelor, diploma and PhD students as well as post-doctoral fellows in the field of radiopharmaceutical sciences.

Above all, our motto is:

Successful Science needs Passionate People, Witty Minds and a Lot of Laughing!
