Kooperationen

Our group maintains close cooperations with a variety of partner institutions to set up a network of scientific excellence in the field of radiopharmaceutical sciences. The home base of this network was built in 1998 by the anticipatory decision finding to closely entwine the PET centre of the department of nuclear medicine (Medical University of Vienna, MUW) with the radiopharmacy unit of the hospital pharmacy (General Hospital of Vienna, AKH), thanks to the heads of these institutions, SR Elfriede Dolinar, MSc, aHPh and Profs. Robert Dudczak, MD, and Kurt Kletter, MD, PhD.

PD Dr. Rupert Lanzenberger who closely collaborates with the radiopharmaceutical sciences group in a vast number of projects leads a team of dynamic scientists all devoted to multimodal NeuroImaging. The primary research focus is the serotonergic neurotransmission and its implications with hormonal expression and genetic prevalence.

Prof. Helmut Viernstein heads this department within the faculty of life sciences at the University of Vienna. The close partnership of this research facility with our group in basic research and teaching lead to the conjoint mentoring and supervision of diploma and PhD students and, lately, culminated in the mutual conception and execution of the PEPT project.

Prof. Bernhard Keppler who graduated both in chemistry and medicine currently is the dean of the faculty of chemistry at the University of Vienna, and also heads the department for inorganic chemistry. The Radiochemistry unit under supervision of Prof. Gabriele Wallner is also part of this department. The conjoint mentoring and supervision of diploma and PhD students is part of the collaboration of our group with this important research facility in research and teaching. Special interest is focused on novel metal complexes with anti-tumoral activity.

Prof. Helmut Spreitzer heads this department within the faculty of life sciences at the University of Vienna. Within our collaboration, he meets the demands for the syntheses of precursors and reference compounds as well as potential metabolites. Doing so, his group is an academic and integrative partner in many projects dealing with the development of new PET ligands based on small molecules. In-silico methodology under supervision of Prof. Gerhard F. Ecker completes the provided portfolio. Both diploma and PhD theses have already arisen out of this fruitful collaboration and are also currently in progress.
